Do I need to know how to dance?
No prior dance experience is required! All dances are learned during rehearsals and there are going to be ballroom games and guided dances the Ball. The focus is on enjoying movement and the shared experience.
When are the rehearsals?
April 7, 14, 21, 28 & May 5 — 6:00 pm (Burnaby). Please reach out if these dates don't work for you, we'll try to find a way to support your preparetion for the ball.
I cannot come to all of the rehearsals, will I be "lost" during the ball?
While we recommend attending at least three rehearsals so you can feel more confident before the ball, it is not mandatory. We will provide video tutorials so you can practice at home.
Do I need to bring a partner?
Not at all! You can attend solo or with a partner. During dances, partners will be rotated so everyone can participate fully.
What are Leaders and Followers?
Follower (traditionally the “lady’s part”) – the dancer who receives and shapes the movement, responding to the lead while bringing their own musicality, expression, and interpretation. Leader (traditionally the “gentleman’s part”) – the dancer who proposes direction, timing, and figures through clear, caring connection.
What is the age restriction for the event?
The event is 18+.
What should I wear?
Costumes are required — romantic, spring-inspired, fantasy, or historical attire is encouraged. Please check out our dress guide on Instagram.
Is it a dating event?
We have tickets for singles and couples. If you are single and open to connecting with someone, we'll provide a flower pin so you can identify yourself and make single-mingling easier.
Which dances are going to be at the ball?
A variety of Country dances, couple dances and rotational parner dances. A few examples include Waltz, Menuet, Hole in the Wall.
